A rare item which I remarkably found in pristine unworn condition in a shabby second hand store. I’m often amazed that items of such obvious quality can be obtained for such a small price from unsuspecting shop owners.
The Maglia Ciclamino (Mauve jersey) was awarded to the points classification leader during the Giro d’Italia from 1970 to 2010, after this date it then reverted to it’s original red colour.
The eventual overall leader in this years points classification would be Giuseppe Saronni then riding for the GIS Gelati team. Battaglin would take the third to last stage and with the help of his team controlling the last three stages he would go on to be crowned the overall winner of the Giro taking the Maglia Rosa.
